December 5, 2008It's for my oral marks. The teacher is allowing the whole class to talk about anything we want (granted that it's not a controversial topic) for 5 minutes. Now, normally I'd talk about creative writing, Alex Kapranos, or Christian Cage but I'm thinking of trying out something different.
Suggestions would be much appreciated.
The crisis in Darfur (that may be too controversial)
How the media influences (typically girls) body image.
-you can bring in some magazines or make a collage as well, and also show runway models and their abnormally thin bodies
Underage sex trade/trafficking in places such as Romania etc
-Girls are sold (even by their own parents) to people in places like the UK for underground sex slavery.
The emotional effect a film can have on someone
-Like for example, Stephen Spielberg's 'Schindler's List' was very moving and informed a large audience of the horrors of the Holocaust and how one man can truly make a difference in the lives of many(Schindler).
Though these may all still be a little controversial, I hope I helped you get a good idea of some good topics
