For example, I asked about God's omniscience about the future, and I was directed to passages concerning his knowledge of the speaker before they were born and concerning his promise to fulfill his plan. Now, the first has nothing to do with the future, and the second has nothing to do with non-God future events.

That's the sort of thing I mean. What other doctrines have similar Biblical "backing"?

Mary being a virgin (Original language indicated "young woman")
The Trinity, i.e. God being in three parts
Hell (Very few vague references that are nothing like Dantes inferno)
Purgatory
Heaven (Again, vague references)
Jesus being God
Speaking in tongues
Marriage being one man and one woman (Too many counter-examples)
Life starting at conception
Abortion being bad (Read Hosea 13:16, for example)
Slavery being bad
The Pope being infallible (A pope made that one up)
Transubstantiation (another pope made this up)

The Trinity. The so-called "Rapture". Original sin. The perpetual virginity of Mary. The divinity of Christ. The case against the ordination of women.

"Doctrine" can be a dangerous thing.

And the Bible can be used to "back up" almost anything.

Which is why people should read it for themselves…rather than trust someone to interpret the message for them.

I guess the implication that Paul was actually taught by Jesus himself even though they had never met in person.

God is omniscient by definition. There is abundant evidence of it.

Starting just in Genesis He predicted that He would send His son, born of a virgin and that Our Lady would conquer the evil one by her personal sacrifice of her married life to remain a vassal for God alone.

Off hand, I can think of:

The trinity
The rapture
The new covenant which says all the inconvenient OT laws are no longer valid
Paul speaking for Jesus

Well it does. There is Jer. 1:5 about the fact that he and you and everyone lived in an existence before you came here. Now you are here working out your Salvation. He knew you before and it implies and tells you in other places he will know you after you pass away. Past and future are viewed by God. Death means nothing. Christ died and resurrected which is suppose to give hope to all that there is something after, but this talks effort and action to believe called faith.

You can support almost anything by reinterpreting certain passages from the Bible, while carefully avoiding others which disagree with your conclusions. That's why so many different varieties of Christianity can claim that their churches are supported by the Bible.

The term you MAY be looking for are "extra-biblical" – beliefs not found in the bible. Doctrines are usually more like a "system of teachings" or "core beliefs" — Most churches have few doctrines..the rest are just principles, practices, etc.

To Christians which adhere to "Sola Scriptura" (believe in the "bible alone" doctrine) … Extra-biblical is akin to heresy or false teachings. Many Christian groups levy this objection to a lot of what the Catholic church believes. However I would say that the Catholic church correctly recognizes that through out most of human history.. written teachings were not important. MOST things were taught orally. Christianity existed roughly 400 years before scripture was assembled into 1 source called the "bible" therefore not everything that the Apostles taught was recorded.

The Trinity – 3 beings in 1 God – Not mentioned in the bible..but you can deduce it based on scriptures which seem to refer to God as separate and ones which refer to him as 1. Scriptures where Jesus calls himself the "son" and refers to God as "the father" but other passages where he refers to himself as God. So the Trinity is extra-biblical but consistent with scripture.

Prohibition against Abortion – not IN the bible because no one in that time would comprehend someone would willingly abort a baby..so it was unnecessary to comment on it. Also, most cultures believed that if you slept with someone.. you were married..so no need to worry about raising the kid. But STILL, using biblical principles..we can see that abortion would violate several principles

Purgatory – (Catholic Only) not mentioned expressly in the Protestant bible, but a few references in the Book of Wisdom and II Macabees which the Protestants rejected as being scripture because they are not found in the Hebrew Old Testament, but the Greek Old Testament (which is based on the hebrew)

Prohibition against Slavery – but the bible never condones it. Biblical slavery was more akin to 17th century "endentured servants" then the de-humanizing slavery of the Western world during the 18 and 19th centuries. Using principles of love and justice, taught in the bible we can see that de-humanizing slavery is wrong.

Pornography or Graphic violence – again, neither is mentioned expressly in the bible.. yet principles of modesty, temptation, condoning things, etc. clearly makes both of these incompatible with christinity

Birth Control – similar to abortion was not in the bible..but similar principles apply to both

Non-Literal interpretation of Genesis Creation – no where in the bible does it say a Day is not a day (though I still believe that) OR that there may have been OTHER humans besides Adam and Eve, yet SOME christians believe this. Not really a doctrine.

Perpetual Virginity of Mary – The bible doesn't expressly state this, but there is nothing in the bible which directly contradicts it either. However it is more of a historical belief based on consistency with the Apostles then being based on scripture.

There are others, but this should be enough to give ya an idea.
