i really need help here. i don't know where to start to be a Christian singer/guitarist/songwriter/speaker. it sounds really fun, but where do i start? please don't leave rude comments, and don't cuss, and don't bother leaving a comment if you're not Christian.

I agree that a choir is a great place to mold and shape your voice and teach you lots about music. Although many around me have encouraged me that I have a good voice. I have noticed that good singers are a dime a dozen and that often those who make it big are not even good singers they are just people someone wanted to promote and got lessons for.

With the new computer programs available now they can even correct you for singing off key! If you have a lot of skill with an instrument, and can sing phenomenally well and are very attractive you may have a chance if you can be at the right place in the right time………………

In the meantime you might want to see how God can use you where you are. Like step up to the plate in your choir and let the director know you are willing to solo, or help out in other ways.

Good luck!

Yes, you can start by singing in the choir and recording the songs you make in the studio .After you have a demo perfom your song wherever you can and make sure you visit your christian radio station and try to get them to listen to your music so they can play your song.Get as many people as possible to hear you. send your demo to christian record companies with notes and try to get them come see you perform somesongs.

although i am a christian, i do not have the talent for it….and therefore cannot make many, many dollars doing it.

i'll just listen to it, along with my 60's/70's rock 'n roll.

Find a church with a contemporary sound and strong worship team/worship pastor. Vineyard Churches are strong in the area or worship music.

You start by writing songs, be sure and get them copyrighted.

then start preforming, at your local church, at other local churches in the same denomination.

Perform in nursing homes, start local and go as far out as you can. Make some recordings at a recording studio and send them out to various record contests and smaller recording labels.

( beware of those contests where after it is over they offer you a deal where you have to pay 1000's of dollars, they make it sound good but it is only a trap)

go onto myspace.com and look up other christian singers and see what they do.
